The “Friendship Group” meets on the first Tuesday of each month @ 9:30 am in our choir room. Each year we have three fund raisers; Chocolate Lovers Sale, Reidland Day, and UMM BBQ Chicken Sale. With these monies we give to local missions such as, Reelfoot Ministries, West KY UM Family Services, River City Missions, Merryman House, PCM, Reidland Greyhound Center, Ladies Living Free and Hope Unlimited.
Under Undesignated Giving, our unit helps women and children in our own country and world wide. This money helps to shelter and care for needy people in KY at the Red Bird Mission and in Cambodia to help women get low interest loans for silk weaving. These are two examples of the many projects we have been involved with.
Our mission out-reach this year to UMCOR are school kits. The ladies have sewn cloth school bags which will be filled with scissors, paper, ruler, pencil sharpeners, erasers, construction paper and crayons.
In 2007, we chose Dr. Carol Crawford to support as a missionary in Quessua, Angola. She and her husband have served 20 years at the Red Bird Missionary Conference. She will be teaching Old and New Testament in the seminary at Quessua Mission Center.
For two years the Christian Mission Education study has been Israel Palestine. This year we will learn about Native American Survival and I Believe in Jesus for the Bible Study.
Our ladies enjoy most of all visiting our shut-ins and visiting the nursing homes of former active members. Plus, our annual picnic in June at Mike Miller Park is always a treat.
Please, join us. You are needed, welcomed and loved.
